The tripods were brought to Earth and buried deep underground sometime in the distant past. The pilots arrived on Earth through the cover of electric storms and activated their vehicles shortly after, wreaking havoc on the human population. Though the nations of the world tried to launch a counterattack, this proved ineffective. The aliens were ultimately defeated, however, as they died out thanks to a lack of resistance to the countless microbes that inhabit the Earth. Design based on the tripod concept art.
